4:37 pm - finally found an excuse to post on this thing

so apparently livejournal saves all your old icons. oh for the days when i could just wear zip-off cargo pants and second-hand ringer tees. times have surely changed.

everyone's going abroad. or coming back from being abroad. it makes me jealous being stuck here spinning my wheels all the time. i mean i love seattle but things can feel kinda stagnated. i want some adventure, a change of scenery. maybe i should join the peacecorps and then just drop out after a couple months? or i could enlist in the navy or something; thats how you used to travel the world. or maybe i should just pack up and take the next train headed south, or wherever, hoist my sail and go where the trade winds carry me.

but no, i'll just sit here looking at facebook applications, updating my resume to get a menial job to support my menial life, eating my parents' food, updating this silly journal. i'm in love with seattle and its in love with me, but like an aging couple we grow ever wearier of eachother's ceaseless presence. oh she's a trophy wife all right, but i'm in the mood for an affair. if only i had that kind of courage. sigh.

6:06 pm - this wouldnt post last time for some reason
Okay, so I had this dream in which me and Tyra Banks are sitting on a couch watching "Die Another Day" (the last Brosnan Bond movie). I'm trying to impress her because I want a job in the fashion industry, so we spend the whole time making fun of the outfits people in the movie are wearing, at one point we both agreed that Halle Berry's costumes get worse as the movie goes on. The movie is really different from the actual one, however, and takes place mostly in the English countryside. At some point in the movie James Bond blows up an orphanage for illegitimate children of the "Blue Man Group" (yes, they all have blue skin, it's apparently a dominant gene) for no apparent reason. Because it's on TV there's lots of commercials so we switch between that and this sensationalist Discover Channel documentary about global warming, which shows a computer generated tidal wave destroying New York City, like in "The Day After Tomorrow." I comment that I always get angry at media coverage of climate change because it focuses on unrealistic scenarios that distract people from actual dangers. At this point I realize I'm alone, and I get really sad. And then wake up, or something.

I want to be a character on an HBO tv series. i'd be cool and sophisticated, with a subtly clever conversation style and an exhilarating, unique daily routine, but i would also have certain tragically flawed character traits that would lead me down an ever-descending labyrinth of despair and hopelessness. i guess i just want to experience some emotions right now. things have been way too stoic and soulless lately, more like showtime.

11:10 am - not necessarily directed at you, dear reader, but...
fuck everyone.

expanded version:
to everyone who is accusing me of insincerity, bitching about my life and perceived changes therein--which i guess are not acceptable--go fuck yourselves. this is exactly the kind of bullshit i was trying to avoid in high school, and now all i can feel is an overwhelming sense of anxiety and paranoia around people i (wrongly?) assumed were close friends.

seriously, fuck off.

12:05 am - badass
Last night I had this dream about really stuck-up aliens who came to earth. They had this alien version of Trix Cereal whose slogan was "Puny Human! Gorgulons are for Snorflings!"

9:32 am - yes that's my house in the background
so originally we offered for them to stay at my house, and kenn (the new drummer) said they were heading out that night for vancouver (which we assumed was just a polite way of turning us down).

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

we were mistaken.

flirting on a bus has got to be the lowest activity human beings can partake in. and it seems to happen a lot on all my routes. it's always some pathetic older guy trying eagerly to strike up a conversation with a much, much younger girl. today this happened and the guy used the loading of a handicapped passenger as a pretense to sit next to this chick who looked like she was still in high school. come on people!

1:05 am - before I forget
Last night I had this dream I was onboard this cruise ship, the S.S. Stephen Jay Gould, and we sailed to Iceland, but the thing is, it was an educational voyage, so me and a dozen other college students had to take this "tour" of Icelandic culture, which involved being strapped to these amusement park-like chairs that wheeled us around a grocery store in Reykjavik. Then we did this role-playing thing, where each person represented a foreign country (I was Turkey) and each of our chairs was jetisoned into the back of the store after a short speech on economics. The point was that although Iceland is a generally progressive, open-minded culture, their liberal sense of justice is juxtaposed by a xenophobic mistrust and mistreatment of foreigners. Oh yeah, and afterwards we all got to go on a brief shopping spree in the grocery store for being such good sports. Later I made out with Daniel Dennett's surprisingly hot niece, who said I "wasn't fooling anyone" and should "just come out of the closet already."

12:17 am - the secular hedonist
I think I'm going to try and indulge in some vice every day during Lent this year. Maybe I'll start by chain-smoking some cigars tomorrow. Seems appropriate for Ash Wednesday, no?
